Spanish Waves is an online school where every member has access to tools to learn Spanish more easily and naturally. At the end of your first year with our school, you will be able to express yourself in Spanish even if you are starting from scratch.

The idea is to create an immersive Spanish environment for you at home, thanks to the Internet and AI. We help you establish routines for listening to the language so that you can absorb the vocabulary you need to understand it (comprehensible input). Your routines will be flexible and customisable according to your preferences. We want to make learning Spanish fun and entertaining so that you can stay motivated in the long term.

Yes, absolutely. We offer different types of programmes depending on your starting level. We recommend that you take our quiz to better assess your level so that we can offer you a programme with routines that are tailored to your needs. As a beginner, the goal will be to help you naturally acquire basic vocabulary so that you can then consume more advanced content and increase your Spanish vocabulary database. We are here to support you in your journey to achieve your goal of speaking Spanish by the end of the first year.

The brain needs repetition and regularity to memorise the vocabulary you give it in different contexts. That's why our immersion approach is only useful if you establish daily Spanish listening routines lasting 15 to 30 minutes, depending on how much free time you have. We are therefore preparing for a marathon over several months, not a sprint one day a week. It is the regularity of your efforts, not a one-off burst of intensity, that will have an exponential effect on your long-term progress.

Spanish Waves will open on Saturday, 6 September 2025, and close on Saturday, 27 June 2026, for a well-deserved summer break. Your membership will be valid for the entire period.

We believe that it is not necessary to track progress on a daily basis because, just like the goal of losing weight, the results are unfortunately not visible from one day to the next. That is why we offer all our students the opportunity to participate in weekly one-hour videoconferences on Saturdays, where we discuss any difficulties or obstacles that have arisen during the week. We encourage mutual support among our members rather than competition. Learning a language should remain a personal goal and not a race to compare oneself with others.

We understand that you may have doubts since you have never tried our natural approach to learning Spanish through immersion.

We encourage all Spanish learners to try our method and then decide whether or not to continue the adventure with Spanish Waves.

Please also note that studying grammar rules and conjugation is compatible with using comprehensible input. What we claim is that studying grammar and conjugation alone, without consuming comprehensible input, jeopardises your success in speaking Spanish after one year.

This may seem surprising, but this is how language learning works. Think about how you learned to speak your mother tongue. From birth, you were immersed in the language without understanding everything. You were a beginner. Then, over time, the input you naturally consumed in your environment (parents, family, friends, etc.) became more understandable (understandable input). Finally, you began to express yourself at the age of one, making a few mistakes at first, until you reached a level of fluency after a few years. We will do exactly the same thing for your Spanish learning, with the difference that we will make the first immersion phase as understandable as possible according to your starting level, thanks to our comprehension-facilitating tools. This will save you time and allow you to move on to practising conversation in Spanish after a few months.

You understand that the first goal is to increase your level of comprehension in order to acquire as much vocabulary as possible. Without this, there is no point in trying to start speaking, as you will not understand anything and will therefore be unable to make the conversation flow smoothly and naturally. So, once you have reached an intermediate level of comprehension, you will need to establish easy output routines that you can do at home using ChatGPT, where you will try to activate your passive vocabulary. We will also use our weekly follow-up video conferences as a virtual Spanish conversation salon.

Our school is exclusively for adults over the age of 18. However, we offer parents the opportunity to learn Spanish by familiarising themselves with our approach. They can then pass on what they have learnt at Spanish Waves to their children, as if they were helping them revise their Spanish homework set by their school teacher.
